Amoeba is a chair designed by Verner Panton in 1970 for a famous installation called “Vision”, which included several versions of this piece lounge. It was a beautiful ‘example of living room furniture embodies the pop spirit of those years, more careless and impudent. The name of the ‘object, that amoeba, refers to its form, directly inspired by the organic world as well as that of the comfort . Amoeba is a very comfortable seat, a little bulky, but if you want something that gives character to your rooms, is the subject for you.
The basic version of Amoeba consists of a piece that includes sitting back and land-based.
There is also a version that Highback Amoeba has a flexible back and the unmistakable curves extended to form the head restraint up to the user over the head, forming a sculptural canopy.
In this way, Amoeba Highback creates a sense of shelter and isolation, especially in the great outdoors: the trick is to give a relaxing intimate, safe from intrusion, so you can talk about an interesting case study of proxemics (a discipline that studies space and distance in a communication, both verbal and nonverbal) applied to the design. A secluded place, especially suitable for public and large, perfectly in tune with the philosophy of Vitra furniture.
Amoeba is a vintage chair, available in bright colors, very pop : the original purple to yellow, green or yellowish red to gray. His recent re-release offers even more comfort than the original model, thanks to a flexible version of the shell of his back.
