Faithful to the idea of “Nothing Lasts Forever” (Nothing lasts forever), especially in agreement with the scarcity of resources and the need for recycling and reuse, the designer Louie Rigano decided to bring the – of it – the concept of the aesthetic function of objects and their purpose.
“Breakdown” is a series of furniture made from a shelf, a stool and a table that explore three methods to simplify the installation (and removal) of the structure: pegs, blocks and wedges for not having any tools. The library uses pins that hold the shelves, easily ordered at different distances. The stool is made of a square seat whose position is locked between the four legs carved in the shape of ‘H’, tightened slightly inward, so as to keep the seat tension.
The table is composed of a cross beam that locks the cabinet in place while the top has two rectangular openings for use as a tray and snap on the legs, creating two handles that make the piece easy to carry. Everything is in Japanese oak, solid and light. A simple idea, effectively and accurately.
