Flos Lamp, Spider Zeppelin

Designed by Marcel Wanders in 2005, 45 years after the birth of Taraxacum S1, this lamp is a tribute to the Castiglioni brothers and told them in cocoon production of lamps for Flos”I have always considered Achille Castiglioni as an uncle because he was always there at every step I took in the design field and I felt that we were part of a family,” says designer thanking his mentor.

As in the prototypes of 1960, the cocoon is a kind of Fiberglass soft as a textile fiber heat-proof, perfect for spreading the light. The resin “cocoon” sprayed on the structure, with clear safety made spray on finish for a truly amazing effect.

The candles are in methacrylate (PMMA). The ball Crystal is multifaceted for a sparkling effect and is positioned at the center of the lower unit.

Marcel Wanders is now ubiquitous and draws for the most important European manufacturers design including B & B Italy, Bisazza, Poliform, Moroso, Flos, Boffi, Cappellini, Droog Design and Moooi for which the art director and co-owner.
