Gerrit Rietveld MAXXI to Rome


It’s called Rietveld universe, architecture, art design and the new shows Hosted at the prestigious premises of MAXXI in Rome from April 14 to July 10, 2011. Posted by Maristella Casciato, Dominic Dardi and Ida van Zijl, the exhibition is the first monographic retrospective exhibited in Italy, a real tribute to the great architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld (Utrecht from 1888 to 1964). From 14 April to 10 July 2011, the new Architecture Museum MAXXI dedication of Rome in Italy the first retrospective monograph on the life and works of one of the greatest teachers ever, Gerrit Rietveld.



The exhibition, co-produced by MAXXI in collaboration with the Central Museum in Utrecht and Rotterdam NAi, Is called Rietveld Universe and is a real tribute to a person who was an architect, interior designer and furniture, but also a teacher and expert installer of exhibitions and exhibition designer.

The exhibition illustrates the work of Gerrit Rietveld through exposure over 100 works of architecture and design for a total of 400 pieces, including drawings, photographs, models.

The exhibition is enriched by ‘Installation Laboratory Rietveld, by the Department of Education MAXXI. This is an outdoor space designed by Scandinavian Rintala Eggerstsson Architects where visitors can experience the construction of some of Rietveld furniture.
