One innovation that the brand Alias presented at ‘Salone del Mobile last bears the signature of one of the brilliant stars of car design or Italian Pio Manzu . In fact, its chair , called Manzù, openly declares its derivation from the automotive sector, only the pouf betrays its actual use in living rooms or contract. The silhouette of the chair also points out another influence, typical of the design of the 50s, with generous curb vaguely reminiscent of the legendary “Egg Chair” by Arne Jacobsen.
Manzù is a project in which culture and design come together and Alias ??is the guarantor edit these armchair which are clearly applied the latest ideas in terms of ergonomics, with rigorous design and technological skills.
The prototype of the chair was designed for the Rinascente but then wanted the base which was then carried out with a foot , five-spoke, suggested to the designer by a Japanese artist. The prototype has been restored because the skin had been damaged by time and completion of the project was also provided for a footstool, with a four-star base in a manner fully consistent (in the design and proportions) with the session.
The chair and ottoman are made ??of a shell-bearing polyurethane compact molded polyurethane foam and the base is made ??of cast ‘ aluminum , then polished or painted in different colors.
Both pieces are offered by Alias, with an elegant finish to the skin , which, as in luxury cars is available in different colors.
