The French company Baccarat, Famous for its crystal, he enlisted eight major international designers to try to suggest new solutions for the ‘lighting environments. Then, during the week of Fuorisalone Tortona Design 2011, one of the characters chosen for a very special show was the acclaimed architect and designer from Paris Philippe Starck. The concept of “Collection Highlights”, so they called it, is to reinterpret the classics in a contemporary chandeliers once.
The result is completely outside the traditional parameters in which the usual imagery merges with modernity and the Crystal is combined with different materials, using LED technology.
The model is called Starck “Marie Coquine Chandelier” and is a chandelier very classic style, with a structure that revolves around an umbrella that has a canopy above the lighting unit by spreading the light to create a soft environment.
L ‘installation in Tortona provided for the hanging lamp at one end of a pole on a tripod extended steel wheels, the other end of which hung a punching bag in leather with saddle stitching.
So P. Starck says the suggestion that led to the project: ‘I saw a very beautiful chandelier baccarat. So far, so normal! then it began to rain on the chandelier. The chandelier has opened a large white umbrella and slipped into the sky. I screamed ‘Why?’ And the answer was far from the chandelier is: ‘I am Coquine Marie, and because everything is possible in a dream.‘
