Kita, A Japanese designer Italian by birth but a lot of training, thought to Meritalia a collection of upholstered seats extremely functional with a desire to play in a new and very complex needs of contemporary living. The name of the collection is Toki and makes use of new technologies without forgetting the culture of Japan’s designer, managing to blend the past with the future.

Toki is a series of sessions that can be defined as sofasAs armchairsAs chaise longue and also something more. We find pillows structured with different shapes, sizes contained in thickness, made to the media tubular steel chrome and articulated with each other with hinges and pneumatic pistons to move around and meet all the needs of use.

Born as accessories to these sessions, some tables, trucks and tables always made with chromed tubular steel structures and plans laminate high-strength laminated layers in many colors.

Toshiyuki Kita was born in Osaka, began his career as a designer exterior, interior and industrial designer in Japan, moving to Milan in 1969. He has created many successful products for Italian companies, as Meritalia, German and Japanese He has received numerous prestigious awards, such as Japan Interior Designers Association Award in 1975, the U.S. Product Design Award in 1983 and the Mainichi Design Award in 1985.

Many of his works have been chosen for the permanent collections of major international museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Centre George Pompidou in Paris.
