Shigeru Ban of the signatures of FontanaArte lighting at the Show 2011

L ‘Japanese superstars Shigeru Ban , who has always shown a special interest in innovative materials, is among the signatures of the lamps FontanaArte last Salone del Mobile in Milan. Yumi, its floor lamp , it is essentially a flexible arm that increases the resistance to extension of the lightness of carbon fiber . The inside of the stem is solid and consists of a sequence of different materials such as fiberglass and aluminum, which are layered in order to obtain a single element with high structural features. The cables sunk into exile structure, becoming an integral part of the module.

The result is a light in which its curved shape is designed to proudly display the technological progress in materials : Yumi tells how the carbon fiber combined with other materials produces very light objects with a high mechanical strength.

It is among the latest proposals of the 2011 FontanaArte c ‘is also the suspension Wig. The signature is the young American designer Chris Hardy, on his debut at the capital of Italian design . From his name (in English means wig wig), is a lamp with a unique character with the cap of the speaker that takes the form of a long design and technical work.

This process involves the assembly of 40 pieces of metal in different sizes, cut into the sheet and assembled in five layers with impeccable precision. Light and dynamic Wig diffuses light downward, inserting by reflection between the petals offset.
